About Beatmate

A metronome made for practice, by people who practice.

Beatmate is a metronome and rhythm trainer for musicians. It started as an Android app and grew into the things a practicing musician actually needs: odd and compound meters with explicit groupings, an accent grid, subdivisions, swing, a count-in, speed and gap trainers, polyrhythms, a drum sequencer and your own click sounds.

This website brings the same tools to the browser, free and without installing anything, so they are there on any phone or laptop. The tools here are not a demo of the app; they are the full instrument. The app is the version you take with you: it keeps clicking with the screen off and in the background, adds a haptic pulse and a camera flash on every beat, and plays in time with other apps over Ableton Link.

Who makes it

Beatmate and metronome-bpm.com are made by Beat Squad LLC, an independent music app studio in Yerevan, Armenia. The team has made music apps since 2013, when the first Drum Pads 24 shipped on Android; the Drum Pads 24 family has since passed 75 million installs. Beat Squad was founded by Paul Lipnyagov, who wrote that first version.

Beatmate is one of several Beat Squad apps that also run free in the browser, next to the live loop launcher Loop Pads, the stem splitter Unmix and the Audio Editor.
